Threads and comments about Los Angeles always remind me of the way Philadelphians bitch about New York.
I generally can't stand professional golf. What a bore. But while I couldn't make it this year, I do like to to try and attend at least one day of the tournament at Riviera because it is a great course and a great place to walk around and watch the pros hit golf shots, at least before the weekend. Once one manages to get there (not an easy task for those who don't live nearby or know the westside) everything is accessible, the course is unbelievable, and the viewing is terrific.
As for the "worst fans" comments, to me Riviera on a Thursday or Friday is a perfect venue precisely because it isn't over crammed with spectators, and I wouldn't be there otherwise. I guess by your standards that makes me a horrible fan, but then I admitted that going in. I'd certainly not trade it for what one might find at Scottsdale, Bethpage, or at many other venues with supposedly great fans.
