Back in the day, when real estate sales were still robust, I interviewed for a position in an in-house marketing group that Jim Anthony's development company was establishing. I loved the area and the prospect of working in the high-end golf/real estate environment made my mouth water. In light of what's happened to that segment of the economy I'm glad I didn't get the gig.

I have a friend who has retired in-laws up at Glassy. He told me this was coming in the future. Personally, I am sad to hear it. I really enjoyed it when the BMW held the tornament at the different Cliffs properties. But, the business model is based on more and more people buying in, and that just ain't happening now.

I played the one in Traveler's Rest (the Valley) about 2 years ago and remember it being barren of houses and the clubhouse wasn't built. It had a wonderful practice/short game area -- but no one was out there, which was great for us actually.

I remember talking to someone after the round and he said that he still had to work to afford living up there, but there were two or three guys in the clubhouse right now who could buy the whole mountain if they wanted to. Looks like that is happening.

Michael -- I hope to get back to the Upstate soon. Maybe we can tee it up somewhere?

I have a good friend who spends 1/3 of the year there. I cannot tell from article how much of which projects have enough sales to give the whole project legs at some point. the ones they speak about appear so far from done to make one question if it is not a 30 or 40 year deal.

I get over there a couple of times a year and really enjoy the Nicklaus course at the Falls.Played it ,the Springs and Vineyards several times but only played Glassy once. Some great views. The conditioning and facilities have always been first rate.My biggest complaint is it is cart golf.

The Carliles have plenty.  They've been very successful in the oil & gas business for a long, long time.  They also own the Home & Garden Party distributorship.  It will be interesting to see which direction this project takes going forward.
