Essex County CC.  Billed as NJ oldest country club.  Knew the hype ws there but the course exceeded my expectations.  Played in a tournament there from the tips in wet, windy conditions.  It was too much golf course for me, 650 yard par 5's and 490 yard par 4's aren't really in my wheelhouse, but loved the experience of playing there.

The Dye redo of Heron Point at Sea Pines/ HHI.
I played the original many years ago which was nothing to write home about.
The redo is a great improvement.

St Andrews Beach:Terrific course, plenty to think about when playing.  needs a bit of money spent on it.

Peninsula South: Better than expected.  Pity there are so many great courses near it and as a result is down the pecking order.

Southampton!

It's a long 6300 yards and full of interesting greens

While I wouldn't in any way suggest folks should see the course, the most pleasant surprise I had this year was Minch Old.

Honourable mention goes to Yelverton - and this is a course folks should see.

An excellent course.  Love the last 5 especially!

Augusta Country Club.
Very beautiful, very memorable. Went down there twice and both times had an absolute ball.

Minneapolis Golf Club - a very good parkland Park/Ross/Prichard layout, it's long & hard, but it's really interesting and features some neat greens. A course that doesn't get talked about much at all on here, but is just as good or better as 90% of the parkland type courses around the Chicagoland area.

I am also a big fan of Minneapolis.   The course actually reminds me alot of Medinah 1 with a bit more length.   The par-3 10th might be one of my favorite par 3 in minnesota

Twin Hills in OKC.  A really terrific course that gets absolutely no run at all.

Have you played Southern Hills? I find Twin Hills comparable.

Yes, I have played both.  Southern Hills is clearly the sterner test.  And Twin Hills has a few indifferent holes.  But if you ask me which course I'd rather play, it would be Twin Hills.  For my money, it's both more fun and more interesting.
