Those pictures are from a few months ago.  Every hole is now grassed, although only the first few that were planted [7-8-9-1-5] are starting to be ready for a close-up.  It never looks like a golf course until the flags are out, and they weren't out yesterday.

I have posted a few on my twitter account.  I haven't been too happy with the quality.  Now that the grass is growing in everywhere I should be able to get my good camera out and go take some photos.  Give me a few weeks and I'll post a full catalogue of photos.

Looks great on twitter!!  Looks like it should be ready at some point next summer.

Noticing a lot of rectangular box tees, I thought Tom had opined he didn't care for those.

Also, from looking at your twitter, I assume your happy with John Groce!  Illinois basketball is back (after this year).

I am not a big fan of rectangular tees, not at all.

But, the club has them for both the other courses, so we thought it would be weird to change the style.  Plus, we had a golf course contractor (Wadsworth) instead of my crew building the tees, and we thought it would be hard to get them to do something "out of the box".

I like them.   So that's good.

Given your comment that you dont like the rectangular tee boxes at all, I would conclude that the shape of the tee boxes wasn't that important to you as you were able to do whatever you wanted to out there.

Any truth to the rumor a little birdie told me yesterday that the 7th and 13th at Kankakee Elks were inspiration for a couple of the holes on #1?

Postscript-  Tom,  If you liked the Langford at the Elks then you owe it to yourself and your CG readers to see Spring Valley is Salem, WI...

For those who don't know, there has always been a camel bunker off the first tee at Medinah #1.  It had gotten pretty ragged in the last few years, and looked more like the bear on a Klondyke bar.  So we restored it, to a slightly different shape, to match the club changing its logo a bit.

Jud:  Some of the greens are inspired by Kankakee Elks and Glens Falls CC.  I couldn't tell you which holes, because I have yet to see either course ... that was my associate Brian Schneider's input.

Had dinner with a Medinah member on Saturday. Besides being over the top excited about no. 1, he thought the bunkering was so fearsome and the greens had so much break that in his opinion no. 1 would be as tough as no.3.

This might be true, if you played both courses at 6900 or 6500 yards, though it would surprise me.

No way it's true from the "tips", since No. 3 is 500+ yards longer than No. 1.

To be fair, it's hard for members to judge the difficulty of a course they haven't played.
