Looks great!

Is it fair to assume that these will instantly be 2 of the top 3 courses in Florida?

Pictures look fantastic, but as I learned from Tom re: the Dismal River course, let's wait until they open at least.  Tom - I appreciated your sarcasm in your post.

Seminole is obviously a great place with a great history.  It is impossible to predict that any course will be better than it.

TPC Sawgrass helped change golf course architecture (just got done reading Beman's book - interesting for sure).

Calusa is a really special place.  Like the pictures here, it is pretty undulating due to the dirt that they brought in but looks entirely natural.  Plus, the greens are really good - best I have ever played - including Oakmont and Oakland Hills (just my humble opinion).

With a name like Streamsong,

I would think they would be called Doak Sonata and Bens Etude....or something like that.

Should we just have the next year's Dixie Cup at Streamsong? That would be the must not miss event of 2012.

So the Coore/Crenshaw course will be the Red Course.  What color is the Doak course going to be?

We put Red and Blue on the original plan, and I think we've convinced them to keep those names.

Jud and the other Michigan grads are forever grateful you named it the Blue Course.

JC?  He'll only be playing the Coore/Crenshaw course.

I really didn't think of that ... which is probably good, since I'm an almunus of the Cornell Big Red, and my associates who built the course went to Colorado and Wisconsin and Virginia ... and the turf school at Michigan State!  However, Mike McCartin, who shaped a lot of the bunkers, did get his undergrad degree at Duke, so the blue must be for him.

And here I thought The Red and The Blue was an homage to dear old Penn...

*ahem*

One time Dan was doing some finish work on 9 and there was a blue irrigation flag and a yellow irrigation flag about 20 feet apart and knowing I was paying attention he coyly went and placed them next to each other, looked up to see me smiling and nodded.

Not sure if this is a big deal or not...or if everyone already knows this...but I just saw it and thought I'd highlight it...

I got some feedback on the project yesterday from Mike Keiser, who stopped in to visit with a group from Mountain Lake ... he said he could not think of any resort on the East Coast which had two golf courses as good as Streamsong.

I was surprised to hear that his group thought our Blue course would be more difficult and that the greens were more severe.  They weren't playing, so my guess is that they were just looking for potential three-putt opportunities, not thinking that the greens on our side are larger, too.  Or, maybe #11 and #12 stuck in their minds!

As I have failed to convince my regular golf group to make the trip to Oregon, I am already planting the seeds for a trip to Streamsong in 2013.  (More likely, I've failed to convince their wives to allow a boys' trip).  Thanks for the updates.

Looks great.

Curious as to the green construction method used. I take it there is no subair?
What grasses were used on greens and fairways?

Tony:

There's no sub-air.  There aren't too many shady spots and there is a nice breeze a lot of the time.

The greens are built from native sand ... many of them from the sand right on that green site, although there were a few where we had to import some higher-perk material because the sand on the green site was iffy.

The greens are MiniVerde bermuda.  The fairways and tees and everything else are 419 bermuda.  As of now, both courses are mowed at the same height from wall to wall, except for the greens.

Heck what resorts are you even talking about?
Pinehurst? One could argue (esepcially if they like modern golf)
Sea Pines? Depends on one's tastes Is uppose
World Woods? Probably as good as any
Greenbrier?
Homestead?

Truth be told Keiser created something rather unique even when he only had BD and PD let alone the rest of his now legendary offering. There are numerous resorts with one great course and solid to very good others but not many where there is debate among what is the best course.

There's also Kiawah, but The Ocean Course stands far ahead of the other four courses.
