Bill,
No, not an oversight. It was in my first draft list. Then I realised I had forgotten Cruden Bay. I was tempted to leave CB off just for Antony Gray but decided that wouldn't be right. There are other courses that aren't on my list that I'd love to put on there, I'm astonished Carnoustie didn't make the cut and Goswick deserves more recognition thatn it gets. In the end, I came down to deciding between Elie and Balcomie. Now I love them both but settled on Elie, maybe because I'm a Crail member (if that makes any sense!) On another day I'd have a different list. Rye may not always make it, perhaps B&B or Saunton may go. Fact is there are probably 25 courses with a claim to be on the list.
I agree about the quality of some of the holes on Craighead, by the way, though some of the pasture land holes are excellent as well (6 is a very good par 5, 7 as tough a medium length par 3 as could be asked for). 10, for instance, is a very, very good driveable par 4. I've almost been tempted to suggest that Craighead deserves a place in the top post '95 discussion going on. I know of at least one former denizen of these parts and an experienced rater to boot who prefers Craighead to Kingsbarns.
