Sorry about the hiatus, been travelling...

Please vote for your favorite Redan. As usual, you have till end of the week for voting.

Mucci Division, #1 Seed, Piping Rock, Hole #3, 185 yards

From Ran... The Redan hole for many. Who can argue? The front left bunker is a fulltwelve feet deep, making it the most intimidatingof Macdonald/Raynor’s Redan front bunkers. Still, the bunker should be avoided as the green has greatsweep fromfront right to back left. The proper aim can be as much as twenty yards right of certain hole locations, and seeing the ball take the slope just perfectly is the favorite shot for many on this course.

Mucci Division, #8 Seed, Forsgate (Banks), Hole #7, 217 yards

From their website... Redan named after the Turkish fortification at Gallipoli during the Crimean War, the original Redan is the 15th hole at North Berwick in Scotland. The hole honestly lives up to it's name.

I wish we had a better pic of the redan at PRC. It's MUCH more dramatic than the photos show....

The pic at forsgate doesnt do it justice...although I would think more people would give the Forsgate nader consideration with a more accurate picture, the PR redan would still come out victorious

If anyone has pictures of Forsgate, I would be happy to post them up top. This was all I could find... :(

Another tough one..PR is well, PR; but of all the Raynor/Mac's Redans I've seen, not exactly my favorite. Forsgate's is easily the best hole on the course IMO (after redesign). Was most intrigued by the hole and its dramatic qualities.

PR as the quintessential North Carolina or Duke pick compared to the Wake Forest or Clemson.

The answer here depends on one's take of the redan's fairway:  Is it intended to brake the ball (Piping Rock, Shinnecock) or redirect the ball (Forsgate, National Golf Links of America).  Since I favor the latter effect, I vote Forsgate which functions brilliantly albeit in reverse.

In the last photo the bank on the left green side bunker seems like it could be steeper. Is this a bad angle or is that bunker kinda far away from the green?

I was at Mountain Lake in January and the inside bank on their redan was the steepest bank I've ever seen. Marvelous!

I have not played Forsgate so I can't say.  I have played Piping Rock and I'd rank it near the bottom because it is the most distinctly uphill Redan I've played.  The target is also rather small for a longish iron shot.

Also, like most Redans, there is no flat putting like surface long and left of the green.  In fact, it's incredibly steep with thick rough on the bank (I was there).  It's certainly a fair hole, my partner hit a draw right of the flag and it came in nicely to 15 ft.

I can see how people like the hole, I just have played others I prefer.

9 to 1 Piping Rock, flexing the muscles like a #1 seed should. You still have till EOW.

Piping Rock is good to go.
