Thanks Eric.  It's good to be back. I'm pretty stoked about an afternoon alternating between Talladega and golf with Dos Equis and lime and my labrador. 

The edging in that photo of #10 at PV looks pretty smooth and fluid.  It goes towards unnatural in a way that says, "unnatural".  But it looks okay to me. 

The TPC Oaks course seems to toe both lines.  That is to say, it tries to be natural and look "in place" up against those rocks and trees, but it does so unnaturally.  Does that make any sense?

It does. Dos Equis and lime makes perfect sense actually.

Kalen,

They're similar,  I'll give you that.  But the faux, eroded, grassy capes and bays falling into bunkers that are a edged a bit too precisely with really lush bermuda looks decidedly different than those edges at Meadow Club.  The grass around those edges at Meadow Club are being allowed to mature differently, it looks like. 

However, I think we're playing too much attention to bunker edges and not how the course is currently playing this afternoon with the wind up down here in South Texas.  Aka, it looks brutal.

I assume the resort play treats everything as a lateral hazard.Otherwise would never finish a round.Not only is that rough club ruining,that is snake heaven,not to mention centipedes and scorpions plus rocks and cacti.

I can't remember if I read this or someone told me but Norman wanted the jagged bunker edges to be an extension of the trees around the course.

Mr. Halliday told me this was a selling point that the membership hawkers used.
