Melyvn,
If you get the chance please let Mr. Freedman know that it's a bit disconcerting to open up the first page of a magazine devoted to hickory golf and see him with a cell phone jammed in his ear.

Shocking!  ;)

I was also disappointed to see Perry Somers swinging a perimeter weighted steel shaft iron??

However I’m elated to see the first Swiss Hickory Championship will be held on one of the courses I designed – after a chance comment to the captain who had never played hickories before and is now a hickory junky. The hickory family will be garanteed a good time at Buna Vista GC as the captain, Frank Baumann, is also a leading humorist in Switzerland.

I’ll be getting my hickories out to join in the fun.

John

You should contact Lionel and have a chat. Great guy, loves the game and is looking for interesting stories that relate to Hickory.

Hickory may well be on the rise again, giving the GOLFER much more in the thrill department and in chasing the ball around a classic course.

It would be one way to roll back the game - can't think of a better way to do it while generating a great deal of interest from the public at large, a sort of getting back to basic values.

Melvyn, thanks for the link. I am taking the hickories out for a spin tomorrow at Raynor's Mountain Lake.

Cheers
