Cahill out. Egan out. East crumbling already....

George -- If the rosters stay as they are, East vs. West-wise, be sure to set up a match between Messrs. Ryall and Craig.

Dan,

I've been told Mr. Ryall has bowed out as well...

What a bunch of wimps.  Who won this thing again last year and do we have an actual trophy?  What's the format?

Jud,

The West team was victorious last year, by a rather close margin.  And yes, we have a trophy: a hickory shafted Mashie circa ____, compliments from our friend Sean Arble.  It's sitting in my living room at the moment.

Format is best ball match play on Saturday, followed by choice of singles or alternate shot matches on Sunday.  Each group has the choice of playing net or straight up.

Sad to say it looks like I am out as well.  If my conflict changes I will see if there is room but as of now I can't make it.

This is not a good trend, but duty calls.  I have to be in San Fran the week of the Mashie and will not be able to make it.  I was kind of hoping to make all of these over the years, but I guess that didn't last long.

Carry on East, and bring the Mashie back to the proper side of the lake.

Thanks for organizing this unoffical GCA.com 4th major.  Its gratifying to see so many interested parties willing to take the plunge and enter the fly-over zone.

UPDATE

The group has a block of 12 tee-times on Saturday between 1:20-3:00 pm.

We also have a block on Sunday morning with the first group going off at 7:00 am.

I'll start working on groupings over the next week or so.  Let me know if you have a specific request (otherwise it will mostly be random).

George,

Do you need handicap info for some of the pairings?

George,

Sure.  If guys want to get me their handicaps I can make the pairings based on that.  Otherwise each group will have to decide whether or not to play gross or net.

Gents,

I have a 7:00 AM tee time for Saturday morning on the Links.  If anyone is looking to play 36, let me know.

George, my index is 6.9.

My index is 4.7. I've played twice since last November, so that number is more fiction than my last novel.

George:

As of May 1 I'm a 4.0...but after this past weekend of playing in 35* with 25mph winds I'm trending towards a 15...  :P

Here's to hoping we get some good growing weather in the next 2 weeks so Lawsonia can put its best foot forward for the event.

Hey George,

Looking forward to it.

I'm headed to Erin Hills early Sat., so a later time on Sat. PM would be great, probably in the 2:30-3 range.

I'm at scratch currently.

See you all in a few weeks!
