This thread has to be by far the most awkward of all time on GCA.

Another bump for the newer posters.

As Sven suggests in the opening post, be certain to start with these gems:

This is an all-time classic. Not on the same level as the inspiring story threads mentioned above but still a classic. I felt bad for all the posters who were unsure whether it was in fact a joke or not.

Did you know World Woods has the best burger I've ever had in my entire life? I'm planning a trip back just for another one between rounds.

There was a thread a few years back about a guys experience playing Augusta.  You were expecting another description of ANGC but it was actually some muni in Augusta.  The author used the descriptions from ANGC for the corresponding holes on the muni.  It was very clever and very, very funny.  I would enjoy reading that one again if I could find it.

Hey Chris, that was Turboe -- if I remember correctly he had posted the title and Mucci immediately started to ask him what he thought of the slope on 18, or the new hole position on 11 -- before Daryl could reveal the joke. I think he deleted it.

EDIT -- Actually, here it is:

Oh, come on! Three pages of this thread and no mention of the greatest GCA thread of them all???

http://www.golfclubatlas.com/forum/index.php/topic,34272.0.html

You cannot call yourself a true GCA'er if you have not read at least majority of this thread.

The thread is so epic, there are numerous thread discussing this thread, including this meta deconstruction thread:

Here is the Cliff's Notes version:

Rob, thanks so much for finding the link. And thanks to Turboe for such a fine account of playing Augusta for the first time. I thought I was quite familiar with those hallowed grounds but Turboe's keen eye really brought out some aspects that had escaped my attention.

A gem from the old days:  http://www.golfclubatlas.com/forum/index.php/topic,6276.0.html

The best parts are when it strays slightly off topic.

The notorious Merion threads! Thanks for sharing, Rich.

I'll start reading now and hope to be finished by the time the debate starts anew when the 2013 US Open approaches.

Having just gone through my own version of "6 Rounds with Pat Mucci," I found this old thread from 2003 to be highly enjoyable.  While Pat's classical approach doesn't have the lightening speed of a Mayweather or the ability to change his style like Ali, the old guy still has the stamina to take it the distance.  Makes you wish TEPaul hadn't retired, or at least was available for hire as a corner man.
