Let me say that I think the results will be worth waiting for.  :-X

I will however broach the subject of prizes.

All participants and judges will receive one of my pirated, double-secret probation, limited-edition Merion trading cards. (don't worry, they are already printed and sitting on my shelf) I won't say more than that lest I get "disappeared" by the powers that be.

And the winner of the contest will receive an even more rare prize. A signed copy of Mike Nuzzo's Wolf Point book. Mike has been very gracious to donate this prize to our little contest, so a HUGE thanks to Mike!

Okay all, I realize the frustrations and I'll announce the date of the results tomorrow. The actual results will be sometime this week. That is a promise. I apologize for not pushing things along quicker.

Entrants/Judges, PLEASE send me your mailing addresses so that I may mail out your "lovely parting gift" of my pirated, limited-edition, sure-to-be-a-collector's-item Merion trading cards limit one per customer, in recognition and appreciation of your efforts and (ever-diminishing) patience.  ;)

What is the name of the book about Wolf Point? I'd like to buy one. :)

If it's not available to the public, I'll just borrow it off Andy Gray after he's finished reading it. ;)

So now, without further ado: the results of the contest!

Before that though, I will say that I’m going forward with only 3 judges. Life and work got in the way of the Emperor getting to it. He’s a good friend and has given me much encouragement and inspiration, as he did the original GCA armchair architects contest using the fabled Ocean Links (NLE) as his canvas. But we’ve got to press onward.

To view the individual numbered entries, go to this web link: http://cid-f73fd6728c175582.skydrive.live.com/browse.aspx/AAC%20Contest%20Entries

First the results and then the judges scoring. Note that I didn’t do any statistical methods or various things. Just a straight average, low score wins.

Congratulations Nick!

The presentation there is ridiculous! What program did you use? Because if that's sketchup I have alot to learn.

I look forward to looking at all the courses in depth, and the comparisons and discussions we can draw from them.

As Andy alluded to, all you dogs will get your day! I'll have a comparison of the routings up for discussion probably tomorrow.

Everyone did an admirable job. It was a big project and everyone should be proud.

All,

Thanks for the notes.  This process was extremely fun and I viewed the exercise as a means to be critiqued, no matter where the results fell.  I will probably be up until 1 or 2AM studying everyone's entries.  Kudos to everyone that submitted.

Andy, to answer your question regarding the process and programs used....no short answer as a number of pencils / programs were involved.  The routing was initially hand drawn (my apartment was covered with trace for about a week, which I know the fiancée didn't appreciate).  I then brought the sketches into AutoCAD, giving the routing "real" dimensions.  The finished line work was then rendered in Adobe Photoshop, and the final presentation boards created using Adobe InDesign.  SketchUp was used only for the perspectives on the hole details sheets to convey the use of the slopes the site offered.  The process sounds more complicated than it was in reality.

The hardest part was developing the routing (by hand).  The programs were used for production and graphics.

I'm really looking forward to the upcoming discussions, both positive and negative related to all submissions.  Let the fun begin!

Tommy - I wish you had the time.
I'm sure our scores would have been more in line than those other two knuckle head judges...   ;D
I hope we get to talk about the reasons - ask away.

Very nice work Charlie

Congratulations Nick.
You weren't my horse, but I obviously had you at #3.
Beautiful work that's for sure.

Great presentation Nick! You definitely gave some life and character to the site. I like the way you managed to incorporate all the different - and widely spaced - major features of the property in 18 holes. I think that may have been one of the most difficult aspects of the routing for those that decided to go in that direction. I never could find a routing I liked that went into the western part of the property. I played around with it for a bit but always felt I was sacrificing too much good golf ground in the creek valley and the adjacent slopes. On a site this big it'll be interesting to hear the decisions people made regarding what to include and what to leave out... all while trying to get the whole to be greater that the sum of its parts.

Thanks to everyone who participated. It's fascinating just looking at the entries... I look forward to the discussion.

If Nick isn't able, I put together a file that lets me overlay the topo lines on everyone's entries. That's what I'm hoping to post tomorrow.
