I struggled for a while, after a trip to Sand Hills & Wildhorse in 2000, thinking about how am I ever going to get excited about going to play a new course after this? Since then I've played other fantastic courses, and for a long time, it was never quite the same unitl I came to realize, like John Lyon commented, the places you find don't need to be top 10 / top 100 to bring that memorable feeling.
You have to find excitement in the everyday. A few places I've been brought back the feeling, Leatherstocking is one.
I remember wanting to chase the dream, play every great course in the world, experiance it all. I still want to see & play great courses, but the desire for the Quest has diminished. There are other persuits to take up & more things to do.
We can be jaded, but you've got to not let that feeling rule your decisions & desires to play this game as well as other, activities.
