I am working on a project that requires lots of man-made landscaping in and around the golf course....

Which courses that you know would fit in the "Best Man-Made Eye Candy" category?

Shadow Creek is probably the poster child for such thing, followed by its new counterpart and near neighbor, Wynn Golf Club.

Any others that you could think of??  The quality of the course is secondary here... only the landscaping....

Thanks for any input. 

By the way, why is there so few pictures available of both these courses?  I am actively looking for some.  Is it because so few people are willing to pay the price of admission?

Aviara in San Diego would qualify for that. If you judge a golf course by how many waterfalls and flowers it has you might think this is one of the best courses on earth

We are not trying to hide anything, the client wants to build a "Golf Park".

This course will be surrounded by towers of 15 to 40 stories high!  The clients want residents  to enjoy the landscape, even if they don't play or even like golf....

Landscaping makes a lot of sense in this context.  Otherwise, I would prefer a more natural approach of blending everything with the site, but in this case, my site is a square surrounded with buildings!!

Stoneeagle might present an interesting model for you to consider - fairways melded together with big blotches of sand and rock.  I could see adapting that type of approach to your project even in very different terrain.

Industry Hills Ike & Babe courses built on a land fill from scratch, cement ponds, flowers, trees, and even a golf cable car ride.
Trumps place in Palos Verdes would qualify also.

Certainly, another contender would be Fancourt Links in South Africa..some outstanding holes and a remarkable job of transforming land into a "links-looking" property.  It did have some contrasting bunker styles which certainly were a drawback.

John Foley is 10000% spot on -- Bayonne makes what was done at Shadow Creek child's play.

Hands down winner among USA layouts.

The answer is a simple one -- LN was designed on a flat piece of property -- Bayonne HAD to be shaped from an abandoned pier area and required an imagination of Herculean proportions to get the final product one sees today.

LN cost more to constuct but that includes all the elements -- including the clubhouse.

Bayonne is an eye-ful when looking at any photos but frankly being there really takes it to a different level.
