In June I will be riding the first three stages of this year's Tour de France route for charity.  630km (394 miles) in three days, with 7800m (25,600 feet) of climbing for the William Wates Memorial Trust (https://rideleloop.org/the-charity/) which supports underprivileged young people.

Gordon Irvine gave a great presentation on the development of true links turfgrass at Deal, and the "discovery" and creation of Askernish. I wish we had videotaped this presentation as everyone on GCA.com would have enjoyed learning about how links courses are maintained.

Thanks to Mark Chaplin for all of the great organizational efforts.  It was a real pleasure meeting all of the guys from GB&I as well as an Aussie, a German, and some fellow Americans.  Just wish I could have enjoyed a round with everyone on the trip.  Guess that's what next year is for!

Post 32 - shows Mark Pearce getting the wrong side of a long evening, with so many still present he was clearly several hours away from his eventual 0130 departure to bed. Craig is doing a great impression of a losing captain realising it's all over.

I am happy to report the Deal bottle bank received a very generous donation of empties after our departure!!

It was a shame I couldnt join you this year, but fingers crossed that next year I can lose my Buda virginity...
