Things I've learned while reading this thread mostly at aiports for the past two days...

1. When Jordan and Huck get going on a thread don't even try to weigh in with thoughts on a bberry. There will be 20 new posts before you can put together one coherent thought!

2. CPC is easier to enjoy as a course that separates itself from all other when you don't have to worry about the quality of your game making it to easy. For this mid-handicapper it is perfect and far exceeds Pebble Beach - I'd be happy to play in this kiddie pool all day!  Tom you simply have too much game if you have to upgrade to Pebble in order to be tested!

3. I'm getting a hat (thanks Jordan!)

Two other random unorganized thoughts:

1. As I go through the course in my head CPC 5-9 remains my favorite stretch of holes I have played on any course. CPC 15-17 and Pebble 4-10 are certainly more spectacular and there are others out there as well which are magnificent but I could play 5-9 over and over to eternity and not miss a beat.

2. I have now played Pebble 3 times. It went WAY up in my mind after the repeated plays. It is a great course. That being said to play it again I would be picky - NCGA reduced rate would be nice, I'd prefer to play in the early morning (I got the 5h 40m afternoon round once this time around) and it would need to be in special company - best friends or family. For CPC I'd get on a plane on a day's notice and pay pay full fare to play with any random stranger. That is how far the two experiences are separated in my mind.

By the way, Jordan has caddied at Pebble. I witnessed the event.

Too hard to scroll back and see if any of this makes sense. I'm pressing send and living with the published result and criticism that is sure to follow.

Yes, Fazio is supposed to do something with the greens, plus the twelfth tee.  I don't know of any other changes but I'm sure there has been talk of others.

The logic behind the twelfth tee is to make players think about carrying the right bunker.  What a joke.

Oh wow... I have zero axe to grind against Fazio.... it pains me ANYONE is going to mess with Cypress.  This is sad news.  I had thought it was immune to such things.

Tim:

Perhaps a read back might be worthy... it was not me who said the stuff to which you attribute to me, but rather MR. HUNTLEY.   I never came close to comparing either course as a "test."  Each tests my meager game just fine.  I do think Pebble has a certain coolness as it has more "ghosts" (that is, one can recreate the glories of Watson, Nicklaus, etc.) but that is not at all saying I value it more as a test.  That's for Mr. Huntley, who of course has plenty of game by which to back up that statement.

I do find Pebble to be right in the same league with Cypress... if not superior on the overall.  My discussion with Jordan was rebuttal to his opinion that Cypress was clearly superior.  That's it.

My seconds will be contacting yours... that is unless the retraction is creative enough.

Tom - I read enough to know you eagerly anticipating our esteemed colleague  Mr. Huntley's position to be posted - knowing full well in advance what that position was. As I also noted I can efficiently scroll through all this on my bberry but to paraphrase you chimed in with agreement I believe.

I just picked you as the easy target. Just having some fun my man. It was all I could do to refrain from bringing pacific dunes into the conversation. Oops I have done it now.

Fair enough.  I too was just having fun with Jordan, and Mr. Huntley.  But let's get very clear that I sure as hell do not find Cypress to be anything less than a very fine test... I have had that battle many times before with many in here who have said it's "too easy".  I continue to wonder "too easy for whom?"  as it's sure as heck not too easy for anyone I have played with... or heard about...

What was funny to me - and what I really did chime in about - was that Bob compared Jordan's Cypress experience to a first kiss, I said let's discuss it again when the honeymoon is over, right before that.  Just two different extremes, wouldn't you say?

As for Pacific Dunes... it's another great course.. another one I'd say is in the same league with these two.  So what's the problem?

Dave - good stuff my friend... oh yes you read me correctly, that's just what I meant.  11-14 can be tough, but also can be had... and the latter part is a large part of what makes the stretch so great.

Exactly.

Can't be too easy, can't be too hard.... it is a fine day we are on the same wavelength.

I want to re-introduce Crystal Downs #'s 4-7 to this discussion.  With the boomerang 7th green, the ridiculously good 6th green (as good of a green as I've ever seen), the 5th (which has been rated one of the best 4 pars in the world) and the uphill dogleg right 4th to start, I have a hard time believing this stretch doesn't desrve to be in the discussion.

Granted, I've never played CPC or Pebble, but I have to think that these four holes could distract the conversation away from Monterrey for a few posts.

Thoughts from those who have played all three stretches?
I get it, you are mad at the world because you are an adult caddie and few people take you seriously.

Excellent spellers usually lack any vision or common sense.

I know plenty of courses that are in the red, and they are killing it.
