Future thought.......I think it would be fun to have a CGA member golf tournament once a year where everyone on GCA can get together and enjoy some good competition and great courses....... Anyone have ideas on where it could be held? Rotating courses? Which courses? Thoughts......

You mean like King's Putter or Buda?

Don't overlook the Dixie Cup, which has been played in the Southeast in the fall since 2004.  The very first, at Cuscowilla, had 48 players and a rollicking evening's entertainment with Mike Young and that Rymer guy.  This is probably still the highest attendance of a GCA event.  (This might have been due to the daily rate of $99 offered to us at the time Cuscowilla, to include room, green fee and caddy!)  ;D

Nick,

There are three GCA "majors."
Kings Putter - played in California.  Typically in April, but will be Memorial Day weekend this year in the Lake Tahoe area.

Buda (or Budapest Cup) - played in the UK.  This year will be in September in Deal, Kent.

Dixie Cup - played in the South.  This year will be in South Carolina.

Each event is loosely patterned after the Ryder Cup team events.  In addition to these, there have been smaller get-togethers of GCA people at various courses throughout the year. You might search around a bit and read about some past events and should try to jump in and participate. It's a great way to connect faces & swings with names on the site.

You might also change the title of your original post to GCA from CGA.

Also don't fail to note the officially sponsored events, hosted by Golf's Most Beloved Figure himself, with  assistance from Ben Cowan Dewar, who sure knows how to organize a first class event. This year they will be visiting South Carolina's Low Country; check under the Golf and Travel section.

Nick,

As a relative newcomer, you may not know that you can edit the first post and change the subject. The changed subject will appear on all post people make after that time.

Nick,

You misunderstood. You have to go back and "modify", not "quote" the first message and change the subject.
