Quiz Time!!!
« on: June 16, 2009, 12:47:03 PM »
During my two weeks of Scottish golfing bliss, there was one course of which I failed to garner any photographs save for this lone example. I was invited to play in a friendly Team Stableford competition (we won!!!) and the pace of play was blistering. But, my teamate did take the time to snap one shot from my round.

... I made bogey.

Anyone care to guess at the name of the course and hole number?

Prestwick, no idea the number.

(If by some fluke I am right, it's because of the sleepers in the bunker, since I've never played there)

Bill

I think you are referring to the 13th The Sea Headrig at Prestwick. Could be with what looks like another bunker to the left of the Green.  But for some reason I did not think Kyle played at Prestwick.

How about #17 at Nairn.

If that's a wee burn across the fairway down the way, this could indeed be #17 Nairn.  Good call.

If this were #18, I think you'd be able to see club infrastructure off to the left down the fairway.

did it again, need to learn to type.

Knowing Kyles intinerary, and looking at the background in the photo it has to be Nairn, and the only hole with the burn in front of thegreen that I can remember is the 16th or 17th, can't remember which, 17th I think.

#17 at Nairn, indeed.

Well played tree house! That bunker is actaully one of very few that had planked flanks. Definitely a full shot penalty. I'll offer more thoughts on the course when time allows.

How many others have played Narin? What were your impressions?

I have not been to Nairn since August of 1982.  There were no bunkers like that on the course at that time.

Maybe built for the Walker Cup in 1999?  Was it 1999?  There were some back tees built for the matches.

It was 1999. In fact, during my round at the Old Course, our caddie (actually only hired by one of the others in my group, but he helped us all with lines off of the tee) claimed to have caddied for David Gossett in the '99 Walker Cup at Nairn.

Kyle

I played Nairn in July 2007 and was impressed. Must be one of the most varied links around?
