#15 from the very back tees at Friars Head, looking past the monster of a hole, out to the water.

#7 tee on the Castle Course at St. Andrews, looking back into town.

#17 tee Bandon Trails

Honorable Mention: #14 at Quaker Ridge looking back towards #13 from above the cross bunkers at sunset.

15th tee at Merion. You realize you are actually on the 16th fairway as you tee up your ball. Look to your right and see the mythic quarry hole. Then, you ponder what lies ahead: 4 very different and very challenging holes. Play them well and that cold ceramic mug of beer goes down smooth. Don't play them well and that cold ceramic mug of beer still goes down smooth ;)

The walk from 4 green to 5 tee at Barnbougle Dunes is memorable for me.  Good to be alive.

Back Tee No. 13 Enniscrone.  Probably the highest point on the course . Gives you a 360 degree view of the course, Killala Bay, the town of Enniscrone, the Moy Estuary, Nephin and the Ox Mountains.

12th tee at Royal Birkdale.....a very solitary place, the closest place to the Irish Sea and that marvelous green in front of you nestled so delicately in the dunes.
I am fortunate enough to be returning there next month...that one place gives me goose bumps...

Some years ago my wife and I were staying at Greywalls in Gullane. After a wonderful meal and a decent bottle of wine we drove up Gullane Hill and walked over to the seventh tee of Gullen No.1.

The moon was so big and bright one could have read a newspaper by its light. The panoramic view from the tee was breathtaking, the silence was amazing. "Bernard Darwin, the distinguished writer described it as " One of the best views in golf - atop of Gullane Hill."

Altogether, a mystical experience.

Justin here are some photos of Port Royal #16, which indeed is a beautiful spot. The second photo is during renovation last year.

The fourteenth tee at Chambers Bay is a nice spot.

My favorite, though, is the ninth tee at Seattle CC on a clear day with the flag waving and the mountains visible.  I never get tired of standing on that tee and enjoying the view and where I'm at.

I think I have just worked out how to attach pictures, although they don't come out very big. I have many favourite places on my home course Bearwood Lakes - here are a few on a nice but dull day

Justin here are some photos of Port Royal #16, which indeed is a beautiful spot. The second photo is during renovation last year.

Any details on the renovation and how it went? Who was doing the work?

Great call on Maidstone, but I'll take 400 or so yards further down the dune. The halfway house is my favorite spot in golf, if not the world. Sitting on the little porch, drinking a beer. It does not get any better.

I must have played before a round of drainage work, played there in June 2006 with Turboe and it was pretty mucky, cart path only kind of day.  It's a lovely course and a real fistful to play.
