New Pete Dye Course at French Lick
« on: December 29, 2008, 03:22:11 PM »
With the new year fast approach I thought I would send out feelers to see when people from GCA might be thinking they will be coming to Indiana to play the new Dye course at French Lick.  I've seen several people mention it as a place they will be in 2009 and thought I might try and swing a round in with some others from the group is possible.

So who's going and when?

Chris,

I would love to meet up with some GCA'ers and play there. It's not too far from Cincinnati...anyone else?
Best Played So Far This Season:

Rich, we could make the trip together from Cinci. WOuld have top be a weekend. I think it is 2.5-3 hrs from the river.

What's the projected rate for the course?  I'd love to make it down, but I may need to budget for it.

CC---I hope to make it down this spring--I've been in touch with Dave Richards (PR guru) about making an exploratory visit to see not only the new Dye Course, but also the Ross and Bendelow courses as well.

If there is a GCA gathering at French Lick, I could be tempted to make the trip.  It is fairly close to where I grew up and a golf/family visit is possible.

Chris-

Nice suggestion!

I'd love to join in... if I can.  The only major hurdle (and a delightful one it is) would be a new arrival the missus and I are expecting in June.  If the dates work, I'm in.

It's a pretty short drive from Louisville.  You could count me in.

There may be one in Columbus, there's several in Indianapolis.    ;)

Depending on date, I could make the drive down from Indy.

Date dependent a drive from S Bend isn't out of the question.  Would love to meet some of you in person.

 8) Louisville has a handfull of Skyline venues.. which is a plus for me..

and when are you planning this?

p.s. Paul.. it isn't about something being better, it's about taste, feelings, memories of Skyline runs, crying from onions being chopped at 2AM, steamed windows and crowds at Clifton and Ludlow and some Greaters later..

p.s.s.  how's Chicago this winter.. it was near 70 and sunny yesterday, should get to 72 today, we'll be in shorts..

i get you now Steve...like me going to White Castles late at night or Rosies on Cicero Ave for a hot dog or Gyro at that time..

today is actually close to tolerable , sunny and in the 30s..but we are ahead of the normal snowfall already this year, had near floods this weekend due to rapid snowmelt, very high winds, etc.......... >:(

and where are you at Steve where it is 70?? :'(...i have weather envy!

According to this article, the greens fee will be about $250. Perhaps the current economic slide will convince them to alter their business model.

I'm hoping to get back to see it, although I'm not sure how practical it will be to see it since my usual visits back to Indiana from New Mexico to see family/friends make it difficult to get very far from the South Bend area or sometimes Chicago.

I am sure if we can gather up enough folks, we can negotiate on that greens fee. We can blame it on the economy!

Or lose enough dough at the casino and my guess is they'll comp you a round.   ;)
