Incredible Yosemite overlook.  Ansel Adams stuff.  Is that the viewpoint right after you come out of the tunnel from the south?  Not far from Wawona Golf Course if it is.

Phil, The real play is to the left over the top of El Capitan. From there you catch the power slot on the back side and you'll probably have just a mid-iron in. 

I do love this view. Just before the tunnel you do get a partial view. When I've taken peopke who've never been there I always try to distract or get them to close there eyes at that point. There is something truly awesome about having the vista overwhelm you as you come out of the tunnel.
(That's probably a good thread in the future as a number of GCAs have used that feature on vaious courses.)

they probably had to transplant the trees, not just cut them down.   

By the way, Yosemite is just the most fantastic place.  Well worth 48 hours of any foreign traveller's holiday, and several days of a local's holiday.

Thats what the article says, of which over #1 million was donated by private sources or a foundation.   As I said, they did improve the drainage and added some space to the lookout area but I'm a little shocked at the $3 million dollar price.

I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of those costs had to do with getting permit approvals and dealing with environmentalist organizations

I suspect there is a hefty retaining wall you can't see that is supporting the weight of all that new curbing and paving and rock wall above.  There is quite a bit more infrastructure there.  Could also be a vast network of underground piping to get the runoff into an environmentally friendly retention pond.

The budget probably contains equal parts of environmental compliance, design and permitting and construction.  $3M doesn't seem out of line at all given all those factors.

Plus KBR probably gets a cut somehow!
