Pebble Beach
Royal Melbourne West
Royal County Down
St. Andrews- old course
Whistling Straits (Straits)
Turnberry (Ailsa)
Kingsbarns
Pacific Dunes
Carnoustie
New South Wales Golf Club

These are supposed to be in order, but when I tried to revise the order, I found myself having endless arguments with myself, so I just left it as is.

Based on the criteria that these must have stirred the soul and senses and given much pleasure:

Muirfield
Ganton
Elie
Cruden Bay
Machrihanish
Silloth
Saunton
Kington
Prestwick
Royal West Norfolk

Not the best 10 courses I have played but all right up there in terms of the pleasure the course has given me.  I thought long and hard about Alwoodley, Bamburgh Castle, Brora, Dornoch and even Carnoustie before coming up with these.  With another couple of plays I could see Beau Desert challenging.
In June I will be riding the first three stages of this year's Tour de France route for charity.  630km (394 miles) in three days, with 7800m (25,600 feet) of climbing for the William Wates Memorial Trust (https://rideleloop.org/the-charity/) which supports underprivileged young people.

In the order I thought of them:

Brora
The Old Course
Crail
Ballybunion Old
North Berwick
Royal Melbourne West
Sand Hills
Wakonda
Waveland (IA)
Western Gailes

Experiences associated with playing these courses is a pretty major factor in my list.

Gosh, the GCA membership does get around...

I'm surprised at so few mentions of Donald Ross/Ross hallmark courses: Pinehurst #2, Seminole, Dornoch.

I'm also surprised, and a little impressed, with the uniformity of a lot of the lists.

Anyway, here's mine, heavily limited by the courses I've actually had a chance to play...
(Five in the world)
1.    Muirfield
2.    The Old Course
3.    Prestwick
4.    Riviera
5.    Pinehurst #2 (Pre-Open; Tom Doak says it can be fixed, so it makes my list.)
(Five in my backyard)
6.    Oakland Hills (South)
7.    Franklin Hills
8.    University of Michigan GC
9.    Arcadia Bluffs
10.  Detroit Golf Club (South, not North.  Dammit.)

    1 Cruden Bay
    2 Cruden Bay
    3 Cruden Bay
    4 Cruden Bay
    5 Cruden Bay
    6 Cruden Bay
    7 Crudun Bay
    8 Cruden Bay
    9 Cruden Bay
10 Tie Cruden Bay and Pacific Dunes

Now that I think about it, Cruden Bay definitely "stirred the soul" for me.... but more in the direction of, "that place gave me the creeps."  I can't really put my finger on any one reason either.  Perhaps it started with the abandoned clubhouse when we arrived - no one at the front desk, no one in the dining room, no bartender.. only the guy in the pro shop.  Or maybe it was the Dracula Castle off in the distance.  Or maybe our caddie, who I really thought was going to pull out a cord and strangle us on one of the distant holes.  Or maybe it was just that we were so far removed from literally everything.  Never before have I played a golf course where I felt so isolated and alone.  Even the town buildings running alongside #4 seemed abandoned and empty.

I'm also surprised, and a little impressed, with the uniformity of a lot of the lists.

I actually think it'd be a fun thread to discuss some of the more random courses on people's lists.

No question about my top 5:

Crystal Downs
Pinehurst No. 2
Greywalls
Kingsley Club
Tanglewood Park

Need to think a bit more about the next 5...

Tobacco Road
Forest Dunes
Ocean Course
Caledonia

And a 3-way tie for #10!

U of M GC
Timberstone
Otsego Club Tribute

I still like Greywalls better.

Hopefully not just another list but a collection of courses that have stirred the soul and senses and given much pleasure. They certainly may not be Doak 10's but they are the tops for me.

Not neccessarily in order.

None are Doak 10's and for me it's more the setting and experience that stirred the soul than the quality/rating of the course.  Per your criteria, I could only count 5.

Lake Joseph Club
Tryall
Banff
Sunningdale (Old)
Osprey Valley Heathlands
