The island in question is Bermuda. So tell me...who, exactly, considers Port Royal to be the jewel in the crown ahead of Mid Ocean? 
I like Port Royal a lot. Quite a variety of holes and shots required there, good topography. Some weak par 4s and average par 3s but a couple real good par 3s like the 8th and the oceanside par 3 on the back. I'm very interested in the changes they are making. It has been many years since I played there and at the time it was quite over-treed.
Having said all that, in NO WAY does Port Royal exceed of or approach Mid Ocean.
