You originally said if I recall that Tiger would NEVER win an Open championship anywhere but St. Andrews and Muirfield.

We reasoned that waiting forever was not in your best interests to collect a bet  ;) and so TWO rotations through the other courses was our compromize.

I believe we were to donate the money to a charity of our choice. Should you happen to win please don't choose some soccer hooligan charity or some Islamic/Palistinian charity and I won't send the money to the Daughters of the American Revolution  :)

My goodness I can't for the life of me understand your reasoning.  Mr. Woods has more shots in his bag and controls his trajectory and shot shape better then anyone alive.  Threre isn't a course around he can't play well.

Geoffrey,

It's just a hunch and a bit of fun.  I promise not to donate the money the charities mentioned in fact mine will probably be a cancer research fund.

Send me a message with your address one day so that if this site closes down I can still send you the money.

Cheers

Brian.

Bunkers, if they be good bunkers, and bunkers of strong character, refuse to be disregarded, and insist on asserting themselves; they do not mind being avoided, but they decline to be ignored - John Low Concerning Golf

G,

You sure I didn't add Lytham for safety as well?

For some odd reason luck seems to deal with Woods differently than it does with any other golfer on Earth!

Tom,

What is that Hogan quote:

'Funny, the more I practice the luckier I get.'

If I was to nominate an Open course that relies least on luck, it would be Birkdale with its flat fairways and conventional bunker placement.

Don't fancy your chances with that bet!

Paul,

Mark O'Meara needed a bit of luck to win it but i wouldn't dare go into that on this site. :-X

Yes, I agree with you about Birkdale.

Brian

PS. If you ever get up to Edinburgh in the next year let me know, I would like to play a round with you.  You are only a cheap flight away aren't you?

Should I lose, I'll be happy to donate to the Cancer Research charity of your choice.

You may be interested in my paper in the February 15th issue of Cancer Research "Molecular classification of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma using cDNA microarrays"  ;)
