Has anyone played this course?  A good friend just played there and said it was spectacular.  Thoughts?

It's not bad, but I think there's a bit more eye candy than true substance.

There are a few spots where it's really pinched, especially across the road from the clubhouse.

I wouldn't put it in my top five in the Twin Cites of where I'd like to play a round. Probably not in the top 10 either.

I think I'm curious to know how many Fazio courses this guy has played.

I would guess 5.  I think one of the things he really liked (in addition to the layout) was that there are no houses on the course.
