David ...
It is interesting and one wonders, in this digital age, if the emails from Tom Doak to Mike Keiser during the building of Pacific Dunes will ever be made public
However, the comment that I found intriguing was this tidbit "Most green Committees and green-keepers make the mistake of overfertilizing their Courses with the wrong kind of fertilizers. The more money they have to spend, the worse their Course becomes"

Mike, Bob - thanks very much.
Yes indeed, a very neat glimpse into an architect-client relationship circa 1932 (or at least, this one particular relationship) and into MacKenzie's self-understanding and approach.
Wonderful stuff.

That is a powerful letter. I reckon Mackenzie's economic situation must have been pretty rough when he wrote that letter.

a very entertaining read. The good Doctor "calls em as he sees em" with one of his best clients of the day. Couldn't agree more with the statement about Green Committees. Thanks for sharing.

So does the scenic wonder of Turnberry and the haunting incredibility of Prestwick, and the pleasant deception of Troon. But put them altogether and St. Andrew's can play their low ball for atmosphere." Dan Jenkins
