Along with his history of Alwoodley, Marks work on Stockport is another fine volume. It is both a social history and a really good examination of the arhitecture and the history of the development of the course.
for thosse who think the strength of a a course is all down to the routing, Mark makes a very good case that Stockots strengths lie in the work of the first greenkeeper, Peter Barrie, who built and developed it.
Downloading would be good but look out for the book it's a handsome production. Thanks Mark.
