Are you saying Dave Miller is a switch hitter?  He's playing with you on the Nor Cal side and later on the ROW side.  What will people say?

BTW, Peter Pittock and I are playing Friday at Meadow Club, not Thursday.  Friday is the official kick off day.

And I appreciate it.  It is a hell of a moving puzzle.

 ;D ;D

I must say though that the more this shapes up, the more fun it is sounding... and the more I am dying I have to miss the weekend.

One side note on that:  small possibility I show up to heckle toward the end of the Pasa round.

Tom,

You can come take my spot for the last couple of holes as I'll be getting killed by Mr. Fleischer who's a good 5 shots better than me in handicap.

HELL I CAN BARELY GET THE BALL OF THE GROUND, and i'm getting paired with a guy 5 strokes better than me all weekend long.   :P  ;D  ;)

But it's typically this point when I do this that I make my "each change has cascading effects" speech.  That is, it's darn tough to change one thing without it effecting a whole bunch of other things.  In the changes I made to add Wilson and give a match for me at Pajaro, well that screwed up Kalen's times.

I think I have fixed it now... Kalen, check it out, let me know if this is better or worse or whatever.

Seeing how this thread is getting the most action, thought I would post this here:

Ed are we still on for dinner at this place on Saturday night?

"Stan Dodd arranged for us to eat at Vivolos Chowder House, which has a private room we have reserved for our group. There is also pasta and chicken available for those not into seafood. I tested out the food last week and was happy with the room and the food. Expect entrees to be in the $14-22 range primarily. Monterey doesn't have a value menu.  The restaurant is a few blocks from the Aquarium towards PG."

As well dinner and drinks for those in town on Friday night will be in the hotel at Old Del Monte at approx 6:30-7 ish.

Vivolos on Saturday is arranged.
There was a really good thread going about places to eat in the Monterey area a while back if anyone wants to do something else Friday evening. I will leave that in someone else's hands as I am way to busy getting ready to move to handle anything else.

Great, another guy whining about his inability to get the ball airborne. What is with that ROW team? ;)

McBride was my captain at the 2007 Dixie Cup.  I fought for him and helped scratch out two points in that brutal loss (okay, so I really only contributed in the singles match and my partner carried me in the team match.)  I witnessed firsthand the vicious McBride/Daley battle - the 18th alone was treacherous enough.

...and now I must face the master head-on in the Sunday death match!!

We will have fun, grasshopper.  ;D

Life is good.  Pasatiempo on a sunny Sunday, life doesn't get much better than that!

[I had almost forgotten that 18th hole at Longshadow.  "Brutal" doesn't begin to sum up my memories.]

Please note that incessant C-shack references will drive me to public intoxication. Since this is likely to happen, I booked a room at the Inn adjacent to the course; only $88 for Sunday night if anyone wants to join in the ROW victory celebration :P.

Proposed Pasatiempo tee times now listed.

For those who sent me specific requests, I hope I got them right... but may have screwed some up, as I had a computer crash recently that cost me some files.  IM or email me if so.

Let the games begin....

Tom,
Ft Ord times couldn't be changed, so we start at 12:40 there.

Ron Muszalski (NorCal) will be joining us at Del Monte. I'll let Stan know.

I understand Ace McBride has a match with Pete Pittock during the KP.  I was just on the phone with Ace and after my stirring pep-talk am confident he is going to open up a can on our pinot sipping friend from the northwest.

Pete, be afraid.  Be very afraid.

If anybody knows ANYONE who would be interested in joining us at Ft Ord Saturday afternoon they will be more than welcome. With all the recent cancellations we are 4 below our minimum number that we booked. At this point I will have to probably charge another $20 per golfer at Ft Ord to defray costs, of which I will still be eating more than I would I like. If anyone has any ideas I am all ears.
One thing I thought of was to just invite some singles off the waiting list to join us if that is possible. Any other ideas?

Ed - that does rather suck re Bayonet.  Not sure what to do... man you know I'd be there if I could.

I'd say best bet is to just talk to them when you get there.  It's hard to believe they'll make you pay for a time not used, even if that is what they are saying now.  Odds are it WILL get used.  I doubt there will be singles waiting around on Sat afternoon, but one way or the other a group will play after your three go off.

One other thing I'd advise also:  if in fact you do end up having to pay for that unused tee time, rather than penalize the players at Bayonet - whose fault this is NOT, that's for sure - why not spread the cost around?  All are deriving benefit from your planning, all should chip in for any unforeseen expenses.  You can count on me for my share, or more, that's for sure.  Seems to me that $5 or so from all players (whatever is required) is more fair than $20 from those at Bayonet only.

But that's my two cents, having been in similar situations before.

TH

ps to all players also:  hopefully this doesn't need to be stated, but if Ed has to spend one cent on food, drink, anything this weekend we all ought to be ashamed.  And I don't mean just the Bayonet expenses as described above.

I agree with Tom H.  If the Bayonet group ends up stuck with extra expenses, I'm glad to share in that cost.

Gentlemen,
Our prayers have been answered by an angel. Joe Priddy, the PGA General Manager at Bayonet/Blackhorse, has kindly agreed to let us relinquish a spot for our outing. We now stand at 12 golfers. Joe then was nice enough to  offer us a chance to have a preview of the work on the Blackhorse back nine with the pro. We'll grab some carts after the round and go out to take a look. Those of you who are interested in seeing the Blackhorse work after our round should let me know.

I'm checking on a potential for Bayonet.  Highly unlikely but checking anyway.

I'll let you know.

TH,

I'm checking out the Sunday pairings for Pasa and did we really want the lower handicap players to come in after the higher handicaps?

Wouldn't want to hold up the pace of play for those scratch players or anything...  ;)
