How good is the Par 3 course at Augusta?
« on: April 08, 2008, 05:14:37 PM »
Read an article today about the par 3 course and its history as it related to Roberts.
The par 3 tournament will be broadcast for the first time ever.
I am certainly going to set the tivo for that one.
It always looks like so much fun with the kids involved in the game.
(maybe that will help people see the light?)

The holes don't look very strategic.

What does the treehouse thing of the course?

Cheers

I am looking forward to the coverage of the event as well.  I wonder though how strategic these holes should be.  If I'm not mistaken some of the holes are well under 100 yds.

Certainly no pro is going to be looking for the "strategic" route, and I can imagine many members looking for safer areas on such short holes.

I would guess that the pros try to make every shot that they take on the short course.  I don't see them playing to the middle of the green in this event.

It will definitely be interesting to watch.

It  is a beautiful course, lots of water, lots of elevation change, only one hole I think I had to hit a 5 iron, the rest are 8 irons and up.

No one is playing "safe", no need to except on the downhill holes , downwind with water behind a back pin.
Live Jupiter, Fl, was  4 handicap, played top 100 US, top 75 World. Great memories, no longer play, 4 back surgeries. I don't miss a lot of things about golf, life is simpler with out it. I miss my 60 degree wedge shots, don't miss nasty weather, icing, back spasms. Last course I played was Augusta
