OK then, early spring = highs in the mid 50's, lows around 30.  No wonder I was confused - Houston starts the calendar year in the middle of spring.  Got it now though.  Thanks guys.

Please note that the recent Golf Course Industry article stated that all overseeding is now accomplished using fescues, so the original percentages are less relevant.

It was interesting watching how the various grasses established themselves around the course.  In some places the bent or the bluegrass was dominant, and in other places fescue has been very successful.

Here's the best I could find. This picture was taken earlier this month (I think) and is of the new Lodge. It will also house a spa and a new bar. There will also be a wrap around porch which should only enhance one's stay. The putting green in the foreground is the practice green.

Adam, will they serve single malt at this establishment? And will it have old-style swinging saloon doors? A hitching post for a weary traveler's horse? Ladies dancing the can can?

Diggin' this frontier design.  The wraparound porch is a clincher.

The reddy/purples on some of the fairway suggests a lack of phosphates but they obivously have a grand standard of greenkeeping and would not allow this to happen. Can someone tell me the real reason this is like this?

Indeed. Even today I can tell which fairways were seeded in what degree of that first summer's record heat.

The original percentages are also by bulk seed weight. Seed count is an entirely different deal..and looking at it that way you get a sense of just how much we were relying on the Browntop and the Smooth Stalk Meadow Grass as a huge part of the first developmental sward. Now is the time for Fescue introduction and that could go on long after I am dead and burried somewhere in Colorado.
