As the article notes at the very end, the newish (opened 2006) Dave Thomas-designed Spey Valley course, near Aviemore, will also debut on the Tartan Tour this year.  It will host the Northern Open in May, which was held for the past 4 years at the Carnegie Club- Skibo Castle, near Dornoch.

The article says it cost £20 million to build Renaissance.  Over $40 million.  Was most of that for the land?

Tom, you've probably told us before, but I forget.  Did the owner of the course specifically ask you to build a course that could host top pro events?

Jim:  Yes, from the start they have wanted to host events.  Jerry Sarvadi lives in Jacksonville and is friends with a lot of Tour execs; his brother Paul's company, Administaff, already sponsors a Tour event.  So it's likely they will host something bigger than the Tartan Tour at some point.

First post, here goes.

I had the pleasure of playing Renaissance last September with Jerry, it was great to hear is thoughts on what they were trying to achieve there, the course was great and the land nearer the water ,that may or may not be developed later is incredible.
I think construction time was in the region of 9 months (site clearing to seeding) impressive!

I am glad to see they are giving it till Oct.. Whwn i was there in July the short grow in season was evident and it looked to me like some seasoning was called for.

The start of the inward none is a tough stretch of golf holes; massive length and i would love to see some of the pro's  cards. How long will the course play?
