Old Course now on Google Earth
« on: January 02, 2008, 01:03:00 PM »
Just an FYI for everyone, in case this hasn't been mentionned...

Google Earth seems to have recently updated some of their high-resolution areas, including some of Scotland.  St-Andrews, Royal Dornoch, Kingsbarn, Carnoustie and others are now covered.

Very interesting.

As well as several courses in England that were previously unviewable like Woodhall Spa, Ganton and many others.

Also in Scotland you can see the site of the Castle Course at St. Andrews.  How many holes did Kidd build there because it looks like a lot more than 18?

Now they just have to sharpen up Wales and Munster, and get rid of the massive cloud cover which totally obscures Cruden Bay, Peterhead, Duff House, Fraserburgh, etc....  oh, and Dunaverty at the other end of Scotland.

Good info, thanks. On a similar note, local.live.com now has more 'birds eye' photos of South Jersey, including PV.

Hey guys,

For as much as I like Google earth, I really think the http://maps.live.com/ site is much better.

All the Bandon courses.

Sebonack

Many many GB and Ireland courses.

I've found Sand Hills and Ballyneal on it even

The "bird's eye view" is phenomenal.  You can see every stinking tree on SFCC, for example.
It's way cool.

What does it matter if the poor player can putt all the way from tee to green, provided that he has to zigzag so frequently that he takes six or seven putts to reach it?     --Alistair Mackenzie--
