Rob:
MCC really does fly under the radar, and friends who know the course well say it's by intention. It's always kept a very low profile, and I was somewhat surprised that it agreed to co-host the Mid-Am next year; I'm looking forward to going over there for to watch at least a round next year.
A good friend of mine, a writer on golf in Wisconsin, has played all of the high-profile public courses developed in Wisconsin in the past decade or so -- WStraits, the Blackwolf courses, others -- and says MCC is still the best course in the state. Manual de la Torre was (still is?) a fairly legendary teaching pro based out of there for seemingly ever.
