Get Together in St andrews
« on: April 10, 2007, 03:48:05 PM »
Hi all.  Brad Klein is going to be in St Andrews from Sunday April 22- (Fri) 27.  I want to catch up with him and thought some others may wish to as well. I'd also like to catch up with any of the Scottish GCA Chapter I have yet to meet.

So I'm looking to put together a quiet evening at one of the local Pubs/Restaurants and had to start somewhere.

Anyone who is interested please reply with when might be suitable.

Once we narrow down a date I'll move on to venue.

When I saw your name pop up Bill I thought the suggestion was going to be The Dunvegan  ;D

Think we're possibly playing New or Jube with the the Man and the Lady of Redan on sunday 22nd. Could maybe extend that into a couple of fourballs, then possibly dinner or drinkies...?

I second Ziggy's on Murray Place between The Scores and South Street. Less than a 5 minute walk from the R&A. Great choices, music themed, moderately priced. Busy Thu-Sun.

I will be there the 22nd - 27th as well.  Tuesday evening the 24th looks to be the most conflict-free evening.

Dreel Tavern, Anstruther.  Smoked fish pie, and a choice of cask ales.  Mind your head!

This trip I learned that "Anstruther" is pronounced, more or less, "Enster."

As Sean knows, I'm with 31 raters, including the Vostinaks, and we have free evenings on Monday (April 23) and Tuesday (April 24). Those are best for a central get together. Otherwise, it'll have to be after dinner Sunday or Thursday. Wednesday we're out of town in Carnoustie.

Sean, please check your email. If you set something up we'll communicate it to the raters.

Looks like Tuesday is the night.

Hope you can still make it Martin.

So if we have decided on Tuesday the 24th we better start talking location and numbers.  We'll keep Monday night as a fall back option.

Numbers first. At this stage it would be:

Sean Walsh
Brad Klein
Mike Erdmann
Mr & Mrs Vostinak

Martin - Let me know if you can make it on the Tuesday.

Sounds great, but Mr. Goodale regrets, as he will be at Southerndown from 21-25 April.

Enjoy.

Repective Gentlemen,

Brad and I will be departing the EDI airport around 10 AM on Sunday. We would like to join all of you for golf anywhere you like on Sunday afternoon.  Dinner on the Tuesday with the very tall thin man from Philadelphia and his retinue is on our agenda as well.  Please keep us posted as to where we should be and when.

Thanks in advance

Glen

Glen,

Michael Reich and I are teeing off as a twosome at North Berwick at 12:30 on the 22nd, if you and Brad would like to join us.  That should still leave plenty of time to get up to St. Andrews Bay for the 7:30 dinner.

Checking St. Andrews online booking system, looks like nothing's available on the New Course on the 22nd, and the Eden tee times are limited to later in the afternoon.

Matt,

I left a voicemail message for him a few days ago on another matter but haven't managed to track him down yet.  When I do I'll speak to him about this.

Unfortunately I won't be in St Andrews most of the week - will be in Edinburgh Monday/Tuesday and driving around the Highlands until Friday afternoon with Mum.

If anyone is still in the area on Friday night, I'd be interested in a few drinks and/or dinner.

Will be in touch soon Sean.

I have to take a reluctant pass on North Berwick Sunday as I can't risk being late (or even rushed) to the dinner Sunday night. Thanks for the invite and for the offer. But Tuesday night sounds fine.

Okay,

I'll start looking for somewhere to accomodate us.  Personally I'm partial to a bit of Indian (and there is a good one in the town) but it's probably not as cosy as one or two of the pubs I can think of.  Most of the pubs seem to have a similar style of menu.

Let me know of any preferences.

Thanks

Whoops.

Sorry, Sean. Meant to reply sooner. Please count me in for whatever hostelry/dinerie is chosen. Curry works for me, but I fear for our American friends constitutions (and our plumbing) if we lean towards the sub-continent.

Somebody please put the Andrex in the fridge... ;)
