I have a copy of the Met Golfer article on North Shore. The club occupies the land of the former Glenwood CC, founded in 1911 and opened in 1912. North Shore, an offshoot of The Harmonie Club, acquired the property in 1914 and in 1915 hired Tillinghast to revise the "inadequate" Glenwood course. He retained only 5 holes from the existing 18, including the present 8th,which was among the original 9. The article states, "it is said that 1000 trees were felled to give the 16th its dogleg configuration. Tillinghast's fee, construction included, amounted to $75,000. The course played at 6365 yards when it opened in May, 1916 and has undergone relatively little change over the years."
I presume White was the original architect of Glenwood.
