Full disclosure: I conceived of this thread (the title of it, anyway) as a way to take one contributor's thread-titling scheme to its logical (and even more ridiculous) extreme.

But, on second thought, I second-thought: Make it a worthwhile thread!

So, here it is (possibly worthwhile):

What's the single question you would ask any one architect, if you were guaranteed a full and honest answer? (Feel free to ask a question of more than one architect -- but only one question to each.)

I think I'd ask Dr. Mackenzie: What do you think of Augusta National, in 2007?

GREAT idea, both in the primary and the secondary.  A betting man would take the "no" on said poster "getting" this, however.

I'd ask Seth Raynor: so what were your plans for Cypress Point, and where can we find them?

I'd like to ask Eddie Hacket what he thinks about this minimalism movement seen amongst gcas in the USA.

Mr. Thomas what's with the trap in the middle of the green on #6 at Riviera? Hungry for donuts that day?

I'd like to ask Tom Doak what does he look for when he walks onto a potential course site for the very first time?

I'd ask Colt where he came up with the concept for Pine Valley
Live Jupiter, Fl, was  4 handicap, played top 100 US, top 75 World. Great memories, no longer play, 4 back surgeries. I don't miss a lot of things about golf, life is simpler with out it. I miss my 60 degree wedge shots, don't miss nasty weather, icing, back spasms. Last course I played was Augusta

I think most architects look for a way out, just in case the critics find them. ;)

Dr. MacKenzie, did your creation of a boomerang green on the 7th at Crystal Downs have anything to do with your being in Australia in the years prior?

Great thread, great subject line.

My favorite was when I asked Strantz what he knew about the Hinkle tree and beamed back yelling "I planted that tree..."

I think when I asked Dye to tell me if he could take a mulligan on one hole design what would it be.

The answer when my article comes out... ;)

Come on Geoff S, tell us yours, you must have some great ones!

Mr. Fazio,

Do you feel at all guilty about taking work from the other 1450 (plus or minus) unemployed golf course architects that hang out on GCA.com?

We all know that, but would he admit it as his honest answer, or is he delusional?
