All the information in the world will not resolve many attribution disputes. We will argue about them forever.

That's fine. But when everyone is using a different standard, those debates get very, very loopy.

My point is that if we can at least agree to a set of standards, those inevitable debates will be a little less frustrating.

Yes there is. The London Hunt Club (London Ontario) apparently tinkered with their RTJ course so much that RTJ wrote them a letter asking them to take his name off the design.

It has since been relatively restored.  ;)

It may not be quite so important in the end to know with certainty who it was who did what. What may become more important is to simply try to track the entire design evolution of various important golf courses.

Sometimes we seem to get unnecessarily fixated on architect names. The more important question and issue is what was done.

Perhaps one of the very best examples of this is Bethpage Black!  ;)
