Welcome Jay Blasi

Welcome to this den of iniquity, Jay!
Good to have you here.

For those of you who don't know Jay, he works for RTJ2, and of late was the on site man at Chambers Bay.

Jay...the photos recently posted here of Chambers Bay showed the great progress there.  I really like the blown-out bunker look.

Good Luck with all these characters here!

Thank you very much Tom. As you know, I have followed the website for quite some time and have gained a great deal from the course profiles, interviews and group discussions.

Hopefully I will be able to add something as time goes on. I hope Bandon is treating you well, and that you will have another chance to visit us at Chambers Bay in the near future.

Welcome, indeed. It's always nice to have more industry folks join in.

Don't be shy.

Welcome Jay,
Good to have another Wisconsin guy on here.  I actually saw you give a presentation about golf design to the landscape architecture department at Wisconsin.  At the time I was in the department and Shaun Kelly who had been your advisor, I believe, told me that you were coming to speak.  Interesting stuff.  Welcome and Go Badgers!

Brendan,
Thanks for the greeting. How are you? What are you up to these days? Are you in the golf design business? That talk seems like a long time ago. I need to stop by and say hi to Shaun over the Holidays. I hope you are doing well. Go Bucky!!

Hi, Welcome,
Do you know anything about the development of the Penha Longa Golf Club, Sintra, in Portugal?
I was there not long ago and enjoyed myself more than I had expected to. It was only after the round (I was a guest) that I looked to see who had  designed the course.

Lloyd,

I don't know a great deal about the course, but I do pass by a picture of the 16th hole everyday in our office. The course construction began in 1990 and opened in 1992. From what I can find, the site has a very rich history filled with natural disasters. The great flood of 1627 and an earthquake in 1755. Hope that helps.

Jay,

Welcome.  Be careful not to let John Strawn know you are on here.....he is not a great fan.. ;)

Jay,
I took a year off, and did construction work out at Erin Hills.  I am now back at Madison, but decided to transfer into the turf program.  I still have a bit of time left to go.  Any classes that may be of interest for a future golf course architect?  Go Badgers,
Brendan

Jay, I well remember the four ball at Cypress Point when John "Tiger" Bernhardt and I dusted you and John  Strawn and it was so windy you and John had your caps on backward.  Good thing Bob Huntley didn't see you!

And yes, you were wearing your "Bucky Beaver" Wisconsin sweatshirt.  It was a great day, and glad to see you here on the GCA website.

Jay,

Welcome.
I have family near CB. I work with Allen Schauffler, new GCA member, who I believe you met at CB.
IM me when you get a chance. I've been by the property once, it looks great.
Good luck.
