What do you think of Pete Dye using of mounds at the TPC of Louisania ?

Can I qualify Le Golf National, site of the French Open, as a "debris mounds" course ?  ;D ;D ;D

Mike Hendren,

I would think that the best way to determine if a mound is a debris mound versus an artistic mound is to take deep core samples.

Those mounds look neat, but, that's just my perspective.

Patrick, Do the mounds around the eight green at Augusta allow the player to get closer to certain pin positions, if hit correctly, and deflect shots that aren't?

Adam,

It depends upon the angle of attack and the shape of the shot.

Certain shots can be repelled toward the putting surface

Patrick:

I am not a big fan of mounding in general.

However, I am constantly amazed how much material is carted away from construction sites and how much is brought to construction sites nowadays.  It's a real waste of funds.

On Tuesday I saw a truck coming into Sebonack with fill for where the new cottages are being built.  On its way in, it passed a pile of 10,000 cubic yards of soil that was left over from construction of the golf course!

Tom. We have a net negetive on site. The soil you saw coming in met our requirements for compaction for the cottage sites. The soil we have left over is minimal and was dug out of the clubhouse and cottage areas because it was not good for building on.

The sand piles on site are bunker sand which we will keep in reserve.

The only thing we hauled off site was root mass and RCA. We even kept all of the rocks we founds.
