I always like these threads, as it provides a fun cross-section of vacationers, home courses, and tournament play.

As the heat has finally abated a bit in the Northeast and many club fourballs and such are happening this weekend (just before the grand aeration bomb for many courses in mid-August in our region) I'm sure most of you are making time for golf this weekend....

I'm playing Waconah CC (Stiles/Van Kleek) in W. Mass on Sat., followed hopefully in the afternoon by a trip (or two) around Ross' 9-hole Greenock CC in Lee, MA.  On Sunday a friend and I will hopefully play at either Cohasset CC, Baker Hill GC in NH, or my home course of Tedesco if our 4-ball ends in time or the others don't pan out.

So.....where are you playing this weekend?

God I loved that place.....

My course is closed for obvious reasons.  As such, I'm playing Butterfield CC.

Ryan,

Let us know how Butterfield is these days.  Its originally a Langford design from the 1920's.  Interested to know how much Langford is left after all these years

I'll be at George Dunne on Saturday and I'm hoping to go to Kankakee Elks on Sunday an old Langford design.  Jeff Brauer may have worked on Dunne when he was with Nugent and Killian.  If so he needs to get out there and fix the 18th hole.  Very poor angle to fairway from back two sets of tees.

Despite the fact that I live 10 minutes away, it will be my first time playing Butterfield.  Does anyone have an old map I can look at tonight so I can tell you have has changed and what hasn't.

I look forward to it and will report back.

Have fun this weekend!

I didn't think anyone was going to top the great Dave Miller, but we do have a new leader.  FANTASTIC!  I'd say enjoy, but that's a given.

You did cheat, however.  He asked for this weekend.  But we'll let it slide.   ;D

OK, that's better.  All questions are removed.  You are the leader in the clubhouse.

Dammit!

Seeing your name JB I was expecting Cypress or the like.... sorry, but as great as Oakburne CC must be - and I do assume greatness if you are playing there and god help me I do love the home of the Ragin' Cajuns - I have to say you fall behind Mr. Emmons.

TH,

Banff over Charles River? Is that a lock? I think I would be taking the other side in that one.

Glenn:

The Committee (me) is very swayable.  Methinks upon further reflection that might not be a lock.  The addition of Jasper is powerful, though - and the Committee has granted a waiver to allow for the Wednesday play there.  So...

Banff + Jasper v. CRCC + CRCC...

Man that is a tougher call than the Committee first allowed.  It is prepared to call this a toss-up and would be happy in either instance.

TH,

I am not so sure how you would hold up under questioning!! ;D
I will have to get to looking at Ran's stellar reviews once again and see what this committee thinks. It takes a lot to move me from an Eastern dead guy course, usually. ;D

TH,

One caveat to our little discussion. Charles River is being played twice in two days. There is nothing better than having another crack the next day!! ;D

That too is powerful - particularly re a great course like Charles River.  It also assumes and allows for participation the INCREDIBLE "craic" that one gets at that club.  I swear to god if there is a better bar/grillroom than the one I got to sample there, I'm not sure if I should be allowed to see it.

The committee is leaning heavily.  It just does REALLY like the two Canadian courses.

We really don't play much on weekends.  It's down time.
Play the course as you find it

Uhoh... we might have a new leader... or at least it's very, very close....

This will turn on post-golf kummel participation or not.  SPDB - are you going with members at either or both?  If so, you are the new leader.  If not, it remains too close to call.

Playing with a member at Prestwick. Probably at W. Gailes too, but not 100% sure yet.

Well then there we have it.  As much as I do love the earlier submissions... methinks even Dave Miller might agree.  Golf doesn't get much better than those two back to back... and in terms of craic, I believe the Prestwick members' part can compete with CRCC.

Absolutely no problem - I am digging this.  Now I'm trying to guess where next weekend will have you... Dornoch... St. Andrews... Muirfield... I must be close...
