So are you concluding that they only mow the greens down and back to get rid of the stripes? I'm quite sure that it's done for smoothness and speed. Greens can be double cut in 100 different ways...not just one way, with a 90 degree angle for the second cut.You can lean your greens out and keep a high rate of primo on them and they will not have much for color in terms of stripes. When Bethpage had the Open, the fairways were mowed in a traditional mannor, and tee boxes were mowed on angles, so what was done behind the scene?
