Deals in the USA
« on: January 23, 2006, 07:54:47 PM »
The thread on "Perranporth and other bargains", got me thinking about the availability of great deals for private club memberships in the US.

This of course could be relative, as I have heard that Winged Foot's dues for a single are a steal provided you can get an invite and post the initiation fee.

I'm not fishing for folks to give up information that might be confidential at their clubs, or that they are uncomfortabe giving. I'm more interested in the relative comparison of "deals" between here and the UK.

I belong to two clubs in the greater Milwaukee area that are very reasonable, but the real deals are out in the hinterlands

There are some fine clubs out-in-state where the initiation is minimal and the annual dues $2000 or less.

This reminds me of my trip to the Links of North Dakota.  Our sixsome wanted a replay in the afternoon, and we were dismayed when we were quoted $150 with carts.  Of course, that was for the sixsome, $25 each.  And it is a great course!  Now that was a good deal...tough to get to, though!

I think the best deal in the Philadelphia area, exclusive of clubs that offer an introductory annual membership for a limited time period or a delayed initiation fee and/or bond, is Sandy Run. The non-refundable initiation fee is under 10K and the annual dues are less than 2K plus cart fees are only $11 as they use 4baggers. There is a waiting list in excess of 5 years.

John and Steve,

Those both surprise me.  I wouldn't think a top tier club(PD) and a club in a major metro area (SR) would be so reasonable.

I wouldn't call Sandy Run a top tier club but there so many clubs in eastern Montgomery County that some are offering deals and most do not have waiting lists. SR is a special situation.
