This is my entry on the Penn State Golf Courses in wikipedia, which I just posted today. Thought some people on here would appreciate a heads up on the potential for using wikipedia to post encyclopedic articles about golf courses.

Note the use of cross-referencing and some of the existing articles on Donald Ross and Willie Park.

There is also a website: www.golfcoursewiki.com that seems more devoted to golf topics, including architecture. Similar construct as Wikipedia.

Kyle,

I've registered at golfcoursewiki.com and added a bunch more courses to your list in Pennsylvania.  No descriptions of them yet, but perhaps we can get everyone to add courses from their states and we can this started.  Feel free to add architects to that page also.  Then we can start getting things written and linked up.

For those who don't know what a Wiki is, you should read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia

Establishing one for golf courses and architecture seems like a great idea to me.

JVB,

Excellent job. Both sites are the ultimate in scalability and there is a pretty high ethic regarding editing and changes. All changes are saved, so at request articles can be reverted back to a prior form.

When I get the chance, I'll put the one I did on Wikipedia on GCWikipedia.
