Incidentally, when the pros played the US Open qualifier on both Walton Heath courses earlier in the year, they played from the white tee on the 15th New, ten yards further up than the back (purple) tees. I'm not sure why but someone else in the crowd seemed to think it was because of the headwind on that hole. But the 18th holes on both aren't that different in direction of play and a few pros were hitting into the bunkers on those holes - they must be about 350-360 yard drives. If that was the reason they played a shorter hole it seems a strange one given the distance modern pros hit the ball.
