Chris H. ... If you are near PV, than you are near Tavistock CC, Haddonfield.  Did me VERY WELL for a lot of years in HS and College ... and when I need the $$$ and they had a turnament, you could loop and the Valley too.

At Tavistock if you don't get a loop by 10:00am your probably going home without working ... small club, great little course (never mentioned on this site and a lot of "Jersey" courses get plently of talk).  E-mail me on the side and I'll give you more info ...

Carts have made at least one contribution to golf. They have enabled courses to be built on severe terrain that could never accommodate a walking course. There are some fairly decent courses, especially in the mountains, that simply would not exist if carts were not available.

I am not so much offended by carts as by poorly placed cart paths. Many courses here in the Sandhilld have cart paths that are completely unnecessary. Pinehurst #2 has carts but the "paths" are natural sand and are in play.  I recently played Old Town, an old Perry Maxwell course in Winston-Salem. It is built on rolling terrain and many members use carts, but there are almost no paved paths.

Let's face it. Carts are here to stay. But, maybe we can influence clubs to limit the use of paved paths and to locate them so that they do not effect play.

Golf in a cart just isn't golf.  They're beginning to take hold in Australia, and what a shame that would be. :'(

Its not the carts...Its not the paths...Its the golfers stupid!  As long as this generation keeps raisen soccer playing ridlin taken title 9 declaren unicks we will be saddled with playing a game along side pre-madona cart riding freddysickles.  Even this site with its smiley faces and cutsey icons removes whatever passion a clear thinking individual might muster before the nurse finds his meds so cleverly hidden under his mattress.  For those who have registered erase your cookies every night...For those who have not registered...protect your identity like your dental records...this is a scam to create another file on your activities to go along with your cart rental file.  Do you really want to face the reformation knowing that you once had the statement "I love YABB gold!" posted under your name.  Do you really want to face the reformation knowing you had visited a site dedicated to the playing of a game by some of the same people you see at the local CCFAD.  Remember two thousand posts in a one year period might be considered a fanatic by the tribunals.  I gotta go I hear a helicopter out my window.

BarnyF, Try lining your hat on the inside with aluminum foil.  That way your thoughts are protected and nobody will know - especially THEM.  
  I recently heard that EZ-Go is moving their R&D facility to Dreamland in Nevada.

Sorry for my misread.

I can't claim to be a Brit but manage to play in the UK quite a bit. You are right about the use of carts. At the clubs that restrict carts to those who truly need them, the golfers get around in a ridiculously short length of time. However, the ones I know wish they still had the ability to walk 18 holes.

dear dan king -

i am not an advocate of golf carts - as a matter of fact i have walked every round i played since moving to florida in 1989 and i average playing once a week  - BUT i have recently seen the SUV of golf carts complete with television / CD player / eight speakers / raised suspension / bright irridecent paint job (yellow green pick and blue) / crome wheel hubs / large turf tires / mirrors / etc - AND if this catches on like SUV's have - well the average path will need to be widened - we won't be in kansas anymore, toto !

Golf is a good walk.  Period.

That's one reason I like Scotland so much.  You can't get a "buggy" unless you have a REAL medical reason for one - and even then they are very difficult to come by!
