In my opinion, PV is unmatched in terms of architectural originality. I am not sure it was ever meant to be a championship course, but that doesn't take away from the fact that when the greens are a little hard and a little fast, the course is a bitch to score on. Some of the fairways at pine valley make NGLA look like Olympic. They are huge, but just beyond lie eminent double bogies. The fact of the matter is that the members could give a shit what anyone thinks about the place, it is the unanimous no.1 golf course in the world, and I agree. There are not two holes, greens, or shots that even closely resemble each other. Furthermore, I love the concept of designing holes on the edge of par, and PV has tons. NO. 1 for sure, but championship not sure.
