The James Braid Golf Trail

The Scottish Tourist Board and Peter Thompson have gotten together to create and market 'The James Braid Trail' - highlighting 30 courses designed by Braid thru 6 regions of Scotland.

The West Coast Trail - Irvine, Ayr Bellisle, Stranraer, Routenburn and West Kilbride

The Gleneagles Trail -Alloa, Crieff, King's & Queen's at Gleneagles and Taymouth Castle

The Lothian Trail - East & West at Dalmahoy, West Linton, Royal Musselburgh, Lothianburn and Ratho Park

The Highland Trail - Nairn, Boat of Garten, Golspie, Fortrose & Rosemarkie and Brora

The Angus Trail - Edzell, Forfar, Downfield, Alyth and Blairgowrie Rosemount

The Links Trail - Elie, Lundin, Arbroath, Carnoustie, Panmure and Scotscraig

I'd love to know about these lesser known Braid courses.  Perhaps Rich Goodale can embelish?  GCA needs a digi photographer in Scotland who can visit some of these places and post them here.

Surprised I thought you would have played all of these .

Which ones are you most interested in ? .

First time I have seen Arbroath mentioned on these pages . A flat , shortish , links course right next to the railway line . I have some pre-digital pics. somewhere .

I know quite a few of these courses and I'm struck by the variety of them - play the lot and you'd have a remarkable golfing experience.

Actually, The Angus Trail is almost the exact itinerary of my first golf holiday about 20 years ago.  

Don't know any on the West Coast trail and several others...like to see pics of any of the low profile courses.

Did you also play Kirriemuir ? , another Braid in the same area .

I am not surprised that it has been omitted from the Angus Trail list . Probably my least favourite Braid course that I have played .

Still 16 , 17 and 18 are fantastic holes and worth playing .
