  I'm well aware of gang mowers as my father has been a golf course superintendent for 35+ years. I remember mowing fairways with him and having to get off and on the tractor to engage the reels on the fairway and disengage when we were transporting. We used to try to mow afer rains so that the fairways would stripe better!! Quite a few "mom and pop" type course still use these for mowing their rough. Actully, A new course that open 2 years ago that Mike Devries designed, called Diamond Springs, uses Toro Parkmasters. It is a tractor with 7 reels on it and the reels can be lower or picked up by hydrolic motors...It's a tank!! I'm sure Joe Hancock can tell you more
