Just played Running Deer this afternoon for first time. It was aerated two weeks ago and was just about fully recovered. Overall it was in very good shape and it is an original, that is for sure. If it wasn't in the middle of nowhere, I would go back soon. Still it is worth a couple of trips a year from Philly environs. Great variety of short and long holes, moderate elevation changes, terrific, undulating multi-tiered greens, good use of a few water hazards and natural land hazards. Greens were a little furry and bumpy from aeration, but still ran fine. In a couple of weeks. should be in excellent shape. Ton of fun, not your ordinary golf course.
