"Wayne, I'll see you at 7:00.   ;D"

Doug,

Bring Matt so I can toss two dumb NJers back to the Garden State at the same time ;D  No need to waste my time dealing with you two one at a time.

Now you two shouldn't hang out at the rest stop too long.  I want you guys fresh for the beating in Malone's favorite diner booth.

However, Cherry Hills did not "narrow" their fairways for the Open.  Believe it or not, that is how they keep them all the time and that is one of the things we intend to change.  On some of the holes, we actually widened them for the championship and brought the fairway lines closer to the hazards.  But unfortunately only so much leaway was given.

Other than raising the rough an inch and the green speed a foot or so, that was the members set up.  Frankly, the course probably plays tougher for the club championship.

Mark,

As a Denver resident who plays Cherry Hills regularly, all I can say is "exactly right."

Some of the comments above (eg Cherry Hills positioning for the US Open) are as inane as the most inane Johnny Miller comment of many over the weekend: "You want to see them grow grass--come to Denver. They can really grow grass in Denver." Johnny, as a Utah boy you ought to know: Denver is a high prairie plains town where green grass is not exactly indigenous.   ::) :-[

I would certainly have to agree with the boys who stated the fairways were narrowed a bit at #2.  I saw the the new lines of fairways being created in April.  The reduction in fairway width from the day I played had to be 25%.  Also, the rough was about an inch higher.  However, I thought the setup was very good.  Folks could get out of rough and had opportunities to run the ball onto greens if guys made the right misses.  What they couldn't do was hold greens from the rough.  This is how golf should be.  I can't see as there should be any complaints about the setup.  The best guy on the week won.  Bigger names had opportunities, but couldn't hold their bottle.  It doesn't matter that he is from New Zealand.  Mr. Campbell is a great champion and should be treated as such.  Afterall, he is now in the same elite company as America's boy, Phil.

Ciao

Sean

ha!  great last line, Sean!

although Lefty did win an Amateur, so maybe he has2 or 1.5 majors ??? ;)

it's weird how Jack has gone from winning 20 majors -- his two Amateurs were ALWAYS counted back in the 80's and (early?) 90s - to 18

what the heck, when that TPC becomes a major he'll have 21! ;)
199 played, only Augusta National left to play!
